  1. Don’t try to tackle too much at one time: Start with planning and prepping for one meal throughout the week – if dinners are your most challenging meal to plan and keep a consistent regime for, then prep dinners first! Don’t try to take on breakfast, lunch, and dinner in your first week. Most people only prep one or two meals a week, so don’t feel like you aren’t doing enough if you pick one, to begin with. Start small and build up your comfort levels – and your Tupperware stash! 
  2. Stock up on all the essentials: You will need storage containers, aluminum foil, freezer bags, cooking oils, and seasonings for at least a week at a time. Meal prep is all about efficiency, so make sure you have all of the necessary supplies to make your prepping process as smooth as possible. 
  3. Don’t try to be the next Julia Child of meal prep: Pick out your protein, vegetables, starch, and whatever added ingredients you want and stick with that for a few weeks. You don’t need to become America’s Next Top Chef to have a great meal. Stick to what you know! The Beef Bourguignon can wait. Meal prepping is all about making your life simpler – if you’re trying to do too much, you’ll end up putting that stress right back in your life. 
  4. Get organized: No, seriously. If you go to the grocery store without a list or a plan of what you need, you will end up dizzy and frustrated – especially if you’re following a specific diet. Look up recipes online, know your approved foods, and MAKE A LIST. Also, get good at managing your time. Meal prep will take up some time on a Sunday, but once you’ve prepped and stashed, it’s smooth sailing from there. Just make sure you’ve given yourself enough time to cook the food you’ve prepped, and you’ll be set.
