Delicious pudding recipes to boost your weight loss
January 17. 2022
If you are trying to lose weight, you’re probably following a specific diet or a weight loss program. You have to be careful of what you eat. And most of the time, you don’t have a problem following a meal plan they involve. But what does make a problem is when a sugar crisis appears. These diets and programs mostly suggest eating fruits and dark chocolate when the crisis hits. But you crave for more. One option is to try appetite suppressants, such as phentermine, but sometimes you have to know how to intensify phentermine to make it work better.Â
The second option is to look up some recipes online. Be cautious of what you find as many recipes can be loaded with sugar which can cause more insulin response. When insulin battles the high rise of sugar in the blood, it stores the excess sugar in fat cells, which is probably not the outcome you’re looking for.Â
There is a perfect combination of sweetness, nutrients, and easy preparation that can aid your weight loss, and that is pudding. Healthy pudding can be great either as a snack or as breakfast, so here are some of our favorite recipes:
Berry chia pudding
In a blender, put 1 cup of berries (raspberries, blueberries, cranberries), previously washed and drained, and 1 cup of milk. You can add a tablespoon of honey, agave syrup, or any other sweetener. Blend it all together until smooth. If you want to avoid raspberry seeds, you can strain the mixture. Next, transfer the liquid into a bowl and add ¼ cup of chia seeds. Mix it all very well to avoid the lumps. After mixing, cover the bowl with a lid and store it in the fridge for at least 3 hours or overnight. Before serving it, give it another mix, garnish it with fresh fruit and nuts, and voila! Enjoy your refreshing pudding.
You can spice it up by making half the measure following the recipe, and in the other half, you can add matcha powder. Matcha powder has lots of benefits, such as boosting your metabolism and detoxifying effects, so it can make this pudding even more suitable for weight loss.
Chia pudding with roasted grapefruit
Yes, you read it right, roasted grapefruit. All you need to do is prepare the chia pudding the night before by mixing ½ cup of greek yogurt, ½ cup of milk, 2 tbsp of chia seeds, and a little bit of sweetener. Mix it well together, put it in a bowl, cover it with a lid, and put it in the fridge. In the morning, preheat the oven, cut the grapefruit in half, sprinkle it with some rosemary springs and coconut sugar. Broil it for 7-10 minutes, take the flesh out of the skin, and add it on top of your chia pudding. You can’t imagine the taste explosion that awaits you.
Mango tapioca pudding
Cassava is rich in dietary fiber, making you feel full for longer. Tapioca is a starch derived from cassava root and is rich in vitamins, and it nurtures beneficial gut bacteria. Cassava is ground into flour or powder, then combined with boiling water until a kneadable consistency is achieved. By putting this mixture through a sieve under pressure, tapioca pearls are made.
For this recipe, you’d want to use tiny tapioca pearls. In a large saucepan, combine ½ cup of small tapioca pearls, 2 ½ cups of milk, vanilla bean and seeds, and a pinch of salt. Bring it to a simmer and proceed cooking it until the tapioca is tender and translucent, for about 20 more minutes.
In a small bowl, whisk two egg yolks with 3 tbsp of alternative sweetener. Gradually whisk in half of the tapioca. Then, pour the yolk mixture back into the saucepan and continue cooking the pudding for about 5 minutes. Discard the vanilla bean and let the pudding cool down. In the meantime, prepare the mango puree by blending 1 cup of diced mango, lime zest, and lime juice in the food processor. Mix the puree with one more cup of diced mango and top the mixture with tapioca pudding.
Apple-barley pudding
In a pot, put ¼ cup of barley and 325 ml of water. Peel an apple, cut it in half, and take the seeds out. Put the apples over the barley and sprinkle them with ¼ tbsp of cinnamon, a little bit of nutmeg, and freshly grated lemon zest. Cook it together for 2 hours on low. When it cools down a bit, transfer it to a blender and add 2 tbsp of greek yogurt. Transfer it to a bowl, sprinkle it with cinnamon, and enjoy this winter magic desert.
Fat burning chocolate pudding
This pudding requires more ingredients, but it is still easy to make and will surely aid your weight loss. Firstly, you will take one ripe avocado and scoop half into a bowl. Then you’ll add 3 tbsp of almond butter and mash it together until smooth. Continue the recipe by adding ¼ cup of milk, cacao powder, sweetener of your choice, ½ scoop of protein powder, and a pinch of salt. Mix it until smooth (you can use a fork or a food processor, whatever you prefer). You should end up with the consistency of a regular pudding, except this one will help you control your cravings and satisfy your body with proteins, healthy fats, fiber, and needed micro-nutrients.
Slow cooker rice pudding
Start by heating 1l of milk to a simmer. Pour the milk into your slow cooker, add 200 g of whole grain rice, and stir together. Add 3 tbsp of peanut butter or any nut butter of your choice, a tsp of freshly squeezed orange juice, and add freshly grated orange zest. Cook for 3 hours and stir once or twice. If the pudding gets too thick too soon, add a splash of water and give it another stir. Serve it with fresh orange pieces and a drizzle of nut butter. Can you feel the smell of it just by reading this?
Fruity Yorkshire pudding
Firstly, you’ll need to make your own Yorkshire pudding because the batter mix you can find at a store is loaded with sugar. You can do so by combining 40 g of almond meal or the same amount of oat flour with three eggs and 20 g of sweetener of your choice. When the mixture is smooth, gradually stir 300 ml of milk.
The next step is to preheat the oven (200-220 C), add any fruit you’d like in a baking dish, pour the Yorkshire pudding over the fruit, and bake for 20 minutes until golden. Serve it hot with a splash of milk over it. Yum!
Now let’s roughly go through alternatives you can make in these pudding recipes and keep them adequate for your weight loss journey, depending on your diet (vegan/vegetarian/omnivore). You can use honey, maple syrup, stevia, agave nectar, or raw cane sugar to alternate sweeteners. In the recipes that require milk, you can always use any kind of nut milk. It can only upgrade the taste of the pudding. You can always talk to a nutritionist or a nutrition coach at a weight loss clinic for any other changes.
